VBS 2012 – “Show Me the Way”

This year’s VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL will be June 10-14. That is Sunday through Thursday.

VBS will begin each evening at 6:30pm and end at 8:45pm.

The theme this year is “SHOW ME THE WAY!”

We will be unpacking the Gospel each and every night in a way that young kids can easily understand.

Vacation Bible School is the BIGGEST EVENT of the year for our Children’s Ministry. Children ages 5-11 are invited and welcome to be here.

Ecuador Summer Mission Trip

This summer our church will be taking a Missions Team to Ecuador for the 3rd straight year.

We are very excited about this upcoming trip, and God is really impacting our church through these trips. We have 19 total people signed up and paid to go on this upcoming trip, we cannot wait to see how this will impact Ecuador and Fairdale in the year to come.

As with most mission trips, Fundraising is an important part to making the trip actually happen. It is really a total church effort to come up with all of the money that can send that big group of people and provide us with a nice amount of money to contribute to the churches and work already being done there.

We have several methods and opportunities to allow people to contribute to the fundraising for this trip:

RECYCLING CANS: We are collecting “soda pop cans” to recycle for money. This may not seem like a big contribution but we have found when a whole community begins saving cans it can really add up. If you have cans at home, please bag them up and drop them at the church. We will do the rest.
Shack-in-the-Back FUNDRAISER NIGHT: On Monday, May 21, we will be working at Shack-in-the-Back. We want to get everyone we can to come eat at the Shack-in-the-Back BBQ in Fairdale, and we will get a percentage of the sales. This is a really successful fundraiser, and it is still 3 months away. So lets Spread the Word! The more who eat there that night, the more money we make.

We are planning some other ways that we will work to raise money for the trip. Until then, these 4 ways are available.

Super Church Lock-In

Friday night June 1st all children are welcome to participate in the first ever Super Church Lock-In at FBC Fairdale.

This event is for children ages 5-11. With parental permission and a signed Medical Release Form, children will be able to spend the night at church. This Lock-In is being held and led by our Children’s ministry leaders.

Third Annual Ladies’ Tea & Brunch

All ladies are invited to attend our Third Annual Ladies’ Tea & Brunch on Saturday, May 12th at 10:00 am.

“Let us ‘refresh our hearts in Christ’ together!” (Philemon 1:20)

Our Special Guest Speaker and Artist, Kim Wigginton, will be here to challenge us with God’s word.

Easter Weekend

This year Easter will be Sunday, April 8th.

First Baptist Church Fairdale has a lot planned for Easter Weekend.

We will begin with a Maundy Thursday service on April 5th, the Thursday before Easter Sunday. This service will be brief yet meaningful as we remember our sins which led to the death of Christ Jesus on that Friday before the Resurrection Sunday.

On the Saturday before Easter, April 7th, we will have a special Easter Egg Hunt for children. This event will begin at 10am and will end around Noon with a Hot Dog lunch for everyone. The morning will have a craft station where each child will make a set of “Resurrection Eggs” to take home with them. Our Puppets (which are such a hit with the children during the summers at Vacation Bible School) will also make a brief appearance. Then we will have the big Easter Egg Hunt which will be divided up into age groups. Finally there will be a brief message from Pastor Josh before we all eat lunch together.

Easter Sunday morning we will have an Easter Sunday Sunrise Service for the 4th straight year. This service will begin when the sun rises around 7am. Everyone will gather on the steps and front porch of the church. The music and preaching will be done from the sidewalk at ground level. This service will end at 8am. After the Sunrise service, there will be a big breakfast provided in the church basement. After breakfast there is a break. There will be no Sunday School on Easter Sunday. Everyone is then encouraged to be back at church or to stay at church until our Morning Worship Service at 10:45. This is the most important event of them all that weekend. Pastor Josh is already getting excited about preaching. This Easter Sunday Worship Service will be Awesome! We are praying for all of Fairdale to be there.
