Church Newsletter – July 2011

Dear Church,

Nine of us will be leaving later this month to go to Ecuador,

South America to serve and minister in the name of Jesus our Lord.

I will be leading the trip again this year and our team members are:

Church, I really want us all to understand that we are a team from our church, First Baptist Fairdale, being sent out by our church. It is not merely us 9 seeing missions as important and therefore we are going. Rather, it is that our church sees missions as important, and therefore we are being sent. Therefore, we go on trips regularly. We all love that our church is going, and we all pray and give and encourage in support to those who are going. And as Pastor, I am prayerful and hopeful and expectant to see who God is going to call to go each year. Would you consider going next year?

This summer’s mission trip, like all mission trips, is a demonstration of what we believe about God. God is passionate about missions, so we are passionate about missions. God is committed to missions, so we are committed to missions. But some may ask ‘Why?’ Well Pastor John Piper said it well, “We don’t exist for missions. We exist to worship. Missions exist because Worship doesn’t.” For every place and every person in the whole world that does not worship Jesus as Lord God and Savior, there are true believers who go and proclaim Jesus. That is exactly what we are doing and why we are doing it!

This summer’s mission trip to Ecuador (our second trip) is an opportunity to go and serve. It is an opportunity to be obedient to Christ’s Great Commission, and it is an opportunity to have your life impacted so greatly. I am thankful God has chosen us 9 to go this year. Church, would you please be intentional about being a “partner” with us as we go. We covet your love and prayers.
