Church Newsletter – June 2011
June 29, 2011 No CommentsDear Church,
This is a fascinating and interesting time in the life of our church in regards to children. There are lots of them!
It seems to me that we have so many children in our church. We have an increasing amount of elementary age kids. We have fast moving toddlers. We have growing babies. And perhaps best of all, we have several ladies who are expecting!
This—children and the increase in children—is one sign of a healthy church!
In the Psalms, God tells us “Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb a reward.” -Psalm 127:3
And later on in the Gospels, Jesus says “Let the children come to me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.” -Luke 18:16
God loves kids. That is a characteristic of Him. Therefore, our church should love kids too.
Here are a few observations about why kids are a sign of a healthy church:
- Kids simply bring life and energy and smiles and noise.
- Kids demonstrate that we are growing. Our families are growing and our congregation is growing.
- Having kids around challenges our ministry, evangelism and discipleship. It is our responsibility to lead them to Jesus.
- Kids have parents, and parents are typically young adults. Young adults (and all age groups) are an essential part to a healthy church.
- Kids usually have lots of friends, and this allows for many opportunites for church families to build relationships and reach out to non-church families.
- Kids eventually become adults, and this encourages us that the church should be in good hands for years to come.
I’m sure there are many more reasons why Kids are a good sign of a healthy church, but here are just a few. A church without any children in it will probably not be a church for too long. FBC Fairdale, please join me in working hard to do our part in seeing that Jesus has a healthy church located right here in Fairdale. Lets continue prioritizing children, and watch what God has in store for the next 5, 10, or 20 years. I cannot wait to see!
With all Sincerity, Pastor Josh
